Billings Plant |
First of all, please accept our invitation to visit any of our three plant locations for a guided tour. We may not be real fancy but we are proud of who we are, what we do and how we do it; therefore, please let us show it off! The Billings, Montana plant site is actually two plants rolled into one, i.e. we have a culvert manufacturing plant and a steel fabrication facility on a common section of real estate in west Billings. The picture to the right shows an aerial view of the property and plants. The largest building shown is the steel fabrication plant that was constructed in 1977, and further expanded in 1998 and 2003. The upper left building is the Culvert manufacturing plant that was constructed in 1979 and further upgraded in 1981.

Billings – Fab, Center Bay – Structural |
The Steel Fabrication plant includes three major indoor fabrication and metalworking bays that focus on 1) safe operations, 2) efficient material handling, and 3) LEAN work processes that ensure quality conformance. The “east bay” incorporates much of the metalworking and CNC equipment such as plate processor, Angle-master, drill line and automated sawing. The output of the east bay is vitally important to feeding the fabrication lines in the “center bay” and “west bay”. Much of the serious complex structural fabrication is completed in the center bay that is shown to the right.

Billings – Fab, West Bay – Highway |
The “west bay” is primarily focused on fabricating welded plate girders (WPG) for highway bridges. The bay is over 300 feet long and is efficient and safe in the ability to pre-assemble multiple girders together prior to shipment to confirm fit-up and total quality conformance. The pictures to the right show a working view of the west bay with a few WPG’s in fabrication, as well as some mill-rolled beam.
The Billings steel fabrication plant process approximately 10,000 tons per year of complex steel fabrications for markets throughout the West. In addition to steel fabrication, Billings also is the location of one of the most efficient culvert pipe manufacturing plants in the country. Roscoe Steel & Culvert – Billings manufactures both helical and annular corrugated steel pipe (CSP). In fact, the Billings plant is one of the West’s largest producers of annular pipe, which is especially notable since there are only 900,000 people in Montana!
The following three pictures show the Billings – Culvert plant and some of the helical pipe that is produced within.
